This weekend I was honored to celebrate with my friend Elder Linwood Fletcher as he turned the big FIVE-O. I must say that 50 looks great on him. As I've said in my bio, I have my certification in Event Planning from The George Washington University. Since having my child I operate more on the consulting side opposed to full fledged planning as I have decided to allocate my time a bit differently.
For this particular event, I gave Bessie (his wife) tid bits along the way but she pretty much had it all worked out and booked by time we began to chat. About 2 weeks prior o the event she decided that she wanted to do a candy buffet and the colors were red, black, white and silver. After recieving the instructions, to the attic I went to obtain my glassware for this candy buffet for 150 people for the low low cost of $150.
You too can duplicate this but it will take a bit of leg work, a lot of searching and all without breaking the bank. Remember that $150 is only for the candy and doesn't include the glassware or labor so this price is for the DIYer.
Candies:
Hershey's Kisses

When building your table be sure that:
- You have adequate candy for the containers that you are using
- When selecting glassware use a combination of inexpensive and nicer pieces
- Use varying size glassware to give the table dimension and visual appeal
- Less is more, it's better to have a lot of a few pieces of candy opposed to a lot of a little bit of candy.
When planning your colors be sure to consider recently passed holiday's and shop the clearance section for candy and colored decor to accent your table:
- Christmas: silver, blue, green, red, gold
- Valentine's: red, pink, silver
- Halloween: orange, brown, black
- Independence Day: Red, White, Blue Silver
- St. Patrick's Day: Green, Gold, White
- Easter: Pastel colors
Happy planning!
