So I was thinking hey you have 492 days before you turn 40 according to the countdown clock on my page and I started to think, so what have you accomplished towards your goal?  As I reviewed my list, I'm not doing half bad.

Here is my progress:

#7:  Go to cosmetology school (Started March 2013, anticipated graduation date Summer 2014) - So I'm enrolled in The Essence Academy which is a part of Essence Braiding and Weaving here in Richmond, Virginia.  What I've learned after enrolling is that the schools initial draw was the Natural Hair license that has now been deregulated by the Governor of VA in 2012 so we will be the schools first full cosmetology program.  So while being the first can hold great honors in some regards, this process has come with many bumps and bruises but I'm going to do my best and stick in there because I've learned a lot but my 19 years on my job has caused me to like order and structure and full disclosure but hey, maybe I'm here to learn the art of cosmetology which is more than just bumping and curling and for the record #biologyinfulleffect, but maybe I'm here to help someone develop their vision and they help me grown mine.

#14: Get Follow the Pink Squirrel running as a dot com (drop the blogspot) - I'm generally self sufficient and geek smart with the little things but it has taken me a week to figure out how to connect my domain name purchased on Go Daddy and my blogger account hosted by Yahoo, but by golly, I've got it and follow the pink squirrel is now a dot.com.  Can I get a what, what!

#18: Step up my shoe game with at least 10 new pairs of shoes purging 2 pair for every 1 pair that I bring in. I THREW AWAY ALL OF THE SHOES! (well the ones I didn't want)  There were 2 garbage bags full, how many pairs of were actually thrown away, I have no clue but they are now GONE! Since that time I have acquired ONLY necessities, 1 black pair of ballet flats for work, 1 pair of Danskos for doing hair (I found a white pair in Saxon's for only $42.50, so while the white is ugly, I saved almost 80 bucks and my feet feel good), 1 pair of black and one pair of cognac riding boot and one pair of 6 inch black patent pumps.  So that's 5 of 10 that I said that I will purchase so I need to take it slow because I have over a year to go and have already stocked my inventory by 50%.

#31: Start saving change and see how much it can amount to by my 40th birthday.  Cashing it in monthly and depositing it into an interest bearing account: I believe that I have 3 change jars in the house but I have yet to place the money in a interest bearing account.  I guess I need to either be okay with giving Coin Star a portion of my money or I need to find me some old school change wrappers and get to wrapping.  I haven't figured that out yet as I just don't have the time to wrap the money but I sure don't want to give any of it away.

#37:  Monetize some of my hobbies to help fund my debt repayment plan and fund some of these activities: So while I probably have a gazillion hobbies, I've begun to monetize one of them!  I've been doing hair.  I've started my Styles by Toni where I will be offering mobile hair services for natural hair clients and I have also created a space in my home where "some" are invited to have their hair done.  The space is currently equipped with a hydraulic salon chair and a salon station.  I'm hoping to find my mirror this weekend.  Currently prices are extremely low but I believe that I have a quality service and I've been able to garner some repeat customers, some coming every 2 weeks.  So far the money that I have made has allowed me to order the business cards, dot.com this site, buy styling supplies and equipment.  I guess once I get this start up going, I can work towards putting some of the funds towards #15 of being debt free.

More to come so stay tune and remember to #followthepinksquirrel.
