So, I've been on this journey called school for only 2 months now and the amount of days that I'm there during the week makes it seem like I've been going forever but according to my newest instructor Ms. Cris, of my 1500 hours I still have like 1450 left to go, so I guess I need to do like she says and "buckle up and enjoy the ride because you only attend part time" (I told you I was going to write about you lol).
Well today we had planned to work on Chapter 11, which talks about the different types of hair and density, porosity, conditions of the scalp like dry scalp vs. dandruff and the various stages of aleopecia and crusty scalp known as sculta and the hair medulla, elasticity and keratinaztion. Yeah you get my drift, cosmetology just isn't about bumping and curling. Ok, I'm off course well we didn't do any of that because we had clients, 4 to be exact. While I've never seen more than 2 at a time with 6 students and 1 instructor we were jumping today.

Let's get back on track. Today, I started a young man that I had posted pics of earlier who was getting locs. I had started him about a month earlier and he had returned for maintenance. Boy was he past due but Ms. Carolyn read him his rights, dry shampooed his hair and I began to twist his new growth. That's when the 4th client Michelle came in, she wanted finger coils. Now in my two months there folk had come for loc maintenance, kinky twist and starter locs but no one had ever asked for finger coils but guess what of all the techniques that we have learned, finger coils are my favorite. I love the way that you can manipulate your own hair using it's own curl pattern and create a cute style. Since no one else there was real familiar with finger coils, I stopped the loc maintenance and introduced myself to Michelle. She was a wonderful lady that wanted her hair to be kinky and funky but Michelle had fine, soft curly hair which was not quit the kinky that she wanted but I knew that we could rock this out so a coiling I went.
As I was working on her she said yeah, I'm coming back every 2 weeks and I'm coming to see you. To that I replied well, I have 16 more months left in the program and I will be here to work on you every 2 weeks until I'm done. Michelle then said well when you are done I still want you to do my hair. Can you say BIG SMILE! Even after explaining to this client that I had only been in school for 2 months, she was happy with my work and had decided that I was now her hair stylist. By golly I don't believe it. So while I have a long way to go, I have my first client......Welcome aboard Michelle!
